More like OH [censored]! But, it happens
I talked to a guy at the career center that I go to. He said he can have his best student (who I know and trust) work on it for a $25 charge, but I have to bring it in before he decides if they will work on it or not. My Haynes manual says I need to lift the engine and transmission up 2 to 3 inches. I don't have a lift capable enough to do so, or my dad and I would take a stab at it. I'm thinking once I get it off I know an excellent welder that said he could fix it. So meterial costs of welding, and a shop charge of $25 bucks, and gas to tow it there. Not too bad if you ask me. Hopefully he decides that he will work on it. What do you guys think about welding it closed again, and where can I get a gasket at?

ah...I did that once on a country road at night....I was doing about 100k and came to a crossing but the opposite side was 10' down. What a slammer that was. I put a hole in the oil pan that you could stick a finger into. I soldered a quarter over the hole and it was good for 4 years.
Good luck with the oil pan.

Yea, looks like im doing it from home and we will just rent an engine hoist, I got a pan last night from a scrap yard and I ordered a gasket from teamfordparts. Should be a beauty to work on, I'll post how it goes. Thanks for the support!

Been there, done that. Here in Nebraska, more than a few back roads, and intersections. One time I took a cavalier loaded with 6 people over a section of road, we came down so hard we ripped the exhaust off the car. I have jumped an Integra, my F150 {1984 and 1979 4x4}, 1992 Explorer sport, 1976 Ford Elite {similar to a Torino, which made a ton of sparks...LOL} and I had gotten all 4 tires off the ground with my '99 se. Only damage it ever suffered was the headliner...from my head smacking it mid air. Now, I just drive it a little harder than i should. I still have my explorer, and for a 4x4, it's ammusing to jump it as hard as I do. Beater with a/c and a heater. ANYWAYS, as far as you doing the pan, I was going to say, rent a engine hoist, shouldn't cost too much, maybe $30-$0 for a day, take your time, and safely support the car. Don't car what brand/engine, pretty much the same no matter what you are working on. I have done many a oil pan gasket, and even on my old stuff for like my F series trucks, or my Torino, you have to lift the engine up, generally 4"-6"

Alright, I got my gasket in today, and will most likley get my pan in tommorow from my grandpa. I was curious about wether or not a cherry picker will work sufficiently enough to hold the engine.
