excellent point. yes the movie was unrealistic but i understood your point. those are the kinds of cars that the 20 year old and younger crowd aspire to own.
in F&F2 one of the guys was driving a Yenko Super Coupe. how many F&F viewers even know what that is? how many CEGers even know what that is? the majority of that demographic are hooked on Japanese cars.
I know what it is. And I know what that Challenger R/T is too. That Challenger is one Sexy Beast!

I would pay good money for a movie that's only Contours beating up stock Honda Civics. Top dollar, I say!

the yenko was amazing (most likely a copy cat car as a real one would be too much money to use in a movie) a 350z isn't faster on open highway than a stock svt.. ive seen it in person. the cars made for these movies are total crap. The only nice cars are the ones that people build themselves and they come into the movie as extras. I've seen the XXX car and both 2F2F cars in person and the worksmanship is complete crap. The sides are the cars wave at you and there is so much orange peel it makes you crave a smoothie. Also most hollywood cars aren't built to be fast. Most production is done to make the cars appear to be speeding recklessly when they are actually going like 40mph. Watch the center lines in the next movie with a chase scene.

Yeah, the Yenko was a replica licensed by Yenko.

Yes, maybe, but what's the point? I'd rather be slow and look mature. It's why some people get a new BMW 3 Series rather than put an SR20DET into an S13 with a primer paint job. There's more to a car than what can be measured.
Not to mention, those cars are all built on better platforms from the get-go. No one here is arguing that 350Zs or EVOs or whatever suck, just that the way they made them look really sucks.
And are those dubs on that rx-7?
I guess you're entitled to your opinion, but I certainly lose respect for people who like that stuff. Just reminds me of high schoolers.

i dunno, i know the guy who owns Auto Indulgence which did all their vinyl work. i saw the green eclipse in person just after the movie came out. it was for sale. i dont remember how much but it wasnt cheap. it was a damn nice car and actually had all the visible stuff done to it that they showed in the movie. i remember the orange supra was on ebay and sold for somewhere around $60k or so(?). i remember reading that for F&FII they hired some well known guys to design the cars and choose which mods to put on them. so yeah, they were actually built like what they appeared to be (at least visually anyways). im wondering if the four or five cars sitting over here at Universal Studios are even the real ones from the movie or just replicas and there are other ones making their rounds around the country at shows and what not. that could explain the less than stellar paint job. not to mention that with being dragged around the country and allowing people to walk right up to them its highly likely the cars will get damaged and possibly need some re-paint work.
but in the end...who knows, who cares?? everyone likes different sh*t. some guys here loved slammed trucks while others think that's retarded and love raised trucks instead. some love nascar some love drifting. all i know is they wouldnt be making a part III if there wasnt a HUGE target audience for that type of automotive enthusiasm. and that's what we all are right? automotive enthusiast?? be mature guys and respect other people's personal tastes, even if they are gay. j/k. one thing we can ALL agree on though, the acting and dialogue in both movies was although personally i though Tyrese's lines and acting was hilarious and Eva Mendes....

To clarify for those not versed in TFATF lore:
There are 4 of each car. The hero car, only used in closeups, which is fully functional and schniice (basically, the original car). Two are stunt cars which look like the hero car.... but that's it. They're repainted on an almost daily basis, so yeah, less than stellar (the Skyline at Universal, for example). Then there's a rig car, which is cut up so they can mount cameras on it.
...and there you go.
