Ok, spring's coming and I want my baby to shine! I have a BLACK '98 csvt. I've read all the posts where everyone sanctifies Zaino. And I'd like to use it. BUT - my car gets stored outside year round in Ohio weather for lack of a garage .

So what I want to know is: For this situation, is it worth shelling out the dough for the Zaino or will a lesser waxing product do (since the car is stored outside anyhow). I just don't want to spend the time and money if the weather is going to defeat me in a few weeks time anyhow.

Also, I bought the car about 4 months ago and do not know how it was previously waxed.

from the sounds of it i think im in minority when i say ive never heard of zaino. Other than people mentioning it on here ive never even heard anyone talk about it.I have the same car black csvt, paint i must say is not in good condition(for a used 98 car that i bought). but what i have done so far is clay it, which i think is a must for anyone, then i used meguires paint cleaner to clean it better, then i used the meguires show car glaze(polish). Now having that done couple days ago i plan on running the paint cleaner again, along with the polish, then using Zymol carbon wax(for american dark paint). But if this zaino is that much better let me know. I know pinnacle is good but not worth the $ in my opinion.is zaino better than these?

I haven't used Zymol, but I have used Meguiars. It isn't bad, but I feel it isn't as nice as Zaino. A few advantages to Zaino:

1) Durability - I live in AZ, and the sun hasn't affected my Zaino yet. If your car will not be garaged you have an even better reason to use it.

2) Shine - Zaino looks outstanding. The black 'tour above is mine before I claybarred it. Keep in mind it's 4 years old and wasn't garaged the first 3 years I owned it.

3) Compliments itself - Your car will look better w/ each coat you add on top of another.

4) Sheets, doesn't bead - Another reason I like it. If you get rained on, your water spots will be more noticeable if your polish beads than if it sheets.

5) Highly concentrated - I Zaino'd both of the cars above using the same bottle. The actual polish comes in a 16 oz. bottle and after applying 2 coats to the SVT and 3 to the SE, we've used maybe 3 oz. Any other wax I've used would've been gone by then.

Take it from someone who knows the pain of trying to keep a black car beautiful. Zaino is the ticket to how you want your car to look.

Agreed with Mr. Davis. Zaino is a great choice for everyday drivers.

4) Bugs and bird poop wipe right off
5) Shine
6) Sun won't melt it menaing it'll actually last 6 months instead of 3-4 weeks for wax
7) It'll still keep shining
8) Easy to take care of - washings and additional coats
9) If you are good, you can get 3-6 coats per ounce because you use very thin coats

Just try it and it'll last you a while.

Even if you're a Zaino rookie, you should get 2 coats/oz. At 32 cycles per bottle, that factors out to cost about $1.72/cycle if you're using Z-1, Z-2, Z-5 and Z-6 everytime.

Where can you get zaino from and what is the price. Also do you recommend clay barring it and then useing zaino?

Wash with Dawn
Z18 Clay bar
Wash again
3M Swril Mark Remover or Finess it
Wash again
Z1 (don't take off)
Z2 (now take off both)
Z6

Additional coats:
Wash with Z7
Z6
Z2
Z6

Substitute Z5 for Z2 at any time if you have light swirls

Z2 (now take off both) apply and take off 25 minutes, but must wait until completely dry which is 15min to 24h
Z6 detail on and off 10 minutes

Wash with Z7 and dry 30 minutes
Z6 10 minutes
Z2 on and off 20 minutes, but must wait until dry agian 15m-24h
Z6 10 minutes

Needless to say, I don't do all steps on the same day or same time. And I usually drive another car if I have to let it dry or if I want additional coats in a few days.

Sounds like a lot of prep work, but the only extra step for Zaino vs anything else is using Z1, 10 minutes. Big deal if you're doing it right anyway. Keep in mind this procedure is only done once per year, and some steps could be skipped if you have no swirl marks for example and the surface don't need the clay.

When I got my current car in DEcember, I just washed my car, put some Z1 & Z2 on it, let it dry, took it off and some Z6. Total time of work was about an hour. I nthe next couple weeks I'll be doing it right, according to my above procedure.

APT ... I've heard from other CEG'ers that doing the wash, then Z1 - Z2 at the same time then doing the Z5 or Z6 isn't the way too do it. They have said that you're supposed to wash, Z2 or Z5, then use the Z1 as the Z1 is a "lock" then use the Z6?? I know the website says differently though, it of course reflects your statements above.
