Well, dunno where else to put this, but since I got rid of the Contour, that had no anti-theft... i had a remote starter that'd keep me warm!
So now I ripped it out of the Contour before selling, so now I have the thing sittin in a bag in my garage.
I Want to put it in the Taurus I just got, but since it has the Personal Anti Theft System, installing it wouldn't do any good, the car would shut off since the anti theft isn't seen. So now I am reading there are systems where I would have to leave a key in the car, which makes me uneasy... And that'd bypass PATS, is there any alternatives to installing a remote starter? It's a Bulldog Security Remote starter

companies like DEI and code alarm make bypass modules, though they both technically involve leaving a key in the car. there's no other way around it in a pats system. though in the bypass modules, it's safely tucked away under the dash. then again, you'd could just zip-strap a spare key to the steering column.

You can get a PKF3, which is a PATS bypass. It does not require you to have a key in the car. You program it just like you would a third PATS key. Here is a link to it on eBay. PKF3

or you could just use a DEI part # 555F PATS bypass module. it programs the same way, and DOES NOT require a key left in the car either. Another somewhat old school option would be to open the "door" on the back of the key where the hole is for the ring and remove the small white "pill" from inside the key which holds the vehicles PATS code. Use zip ties to hold the pill near the ignition cylinder inside the plastic steering column cover. kinda ghetto, but it works and you dont have to buy a module.

it doesn't? thats news to me. you'll have to call them and let them know to stop telling people to put a spare key inside that little box with the ribbon wire that folds around the key.

if youre talking about a 555 F and not a 555 U , then NO you dont have to put a key in a lil box. you simply program it the same way as a key by putting to working keys in the ignition one by one until the theft light goes out and then removing them. however in the case of an immobilizer bypass module, the part 555U(thats U not F) or 556U(also U) is used, and requires a key to remain in the repeater box which travels to the igniton receiver. Oh, and I learned a lot of that when i became MECP security specialist...is that news too

sorry about the attitude but smart a$$ comments with no backing that havent been thought through, especially when they involve alarms or remote starts, REALLY bother me.

00SVTinVA is right! it works and it works well... you can google 555F for extra assurance.
