I find the idea of shop vac hose running from the lower vent intriguing. As long as it didn't get in the way of anything (off to the side) I'm kind of tempted to mess with it a bit. One thing I feel unsure about is "lag"; shop vac tubing would probably crack over time from flexing so much under hard accelleration. Maybe that's just a figment of my imagination though. In reality, there's reasons a shop vac tube isnt OEM for cold air intakes on car engines

FYI, there isnt enough hood clearance to run it overtop of the Fusebox.

hers an idea: cut a hole in your hood inline with the intake and seal it all together. it might create some kind of a ram air effect a vaccum hose creates too much turbulence to be useful, and all the turns it would have to take lessen the effect of the faster air coming in from the grill

not many people are too keen on cutting into their hoods.

I mounted one end at the lower grill, ran it behind the fender and through the opening for the stock snorkel. Easy as pie.

i pulled the plastic fender piece out, opened the whole to fit a 3inch flex house, and ran it to my foglight hole...seemed to work...the filter needed to be cleaned more often

run the hose just behind the front foglight hole and install filter there ,leave it connected to the shop vac top section.Take another section of hose and seal to the out put side on shop vac then connect to the intake, install power inverter, plug it in and presto instant turbo.

Just buy a hood scoop and put it on the hood directly above the air box the only thing you would have to do is remove some material from your hood. Put a seal around the air box and your finished. You could do this cheaply or go the more expensive route and mold the scoop into the hood like I did with my camaro. It's the best way to do what you are trying to accomplish. Trying to route a shop hose or anything for that matter is a waste of time and effort. This whole project should you do it will cost you from $60-$180 depending on where and what you get for your hood scoop. If you are really ambitious you could save a lot of money and create a mold and make your own. As an idea you might want to look at the scoops on the older Mazda RX7's.

You are wrong, it is worth the few dollars and only takes few minutes. I believe it works and many others do too. Additional cool air to the filter area is always a good idea.
