And how much bodywork have you had done recently? the fact that its silver and has to be blended like a mofo would put it around $1k alone. And last time I checked SVT bumper covers weren't to easy to come by. I was rear ended a couple years ago and the rear bumper itself was around $980 unpainted.

I know the paint has to be blended. The front bumper isnt that bad at all. It can actually be saved. Thats why I said $1000. If he gets a new bumper then yeah $2,000 with the blending of the paint. Unless there is no blending (which I NEVER recommend). Its a nice car, so I would pay the cash to get it looking nice.

did you read her above post? she does need a new bumper and there is easily $1,000 dollars damage even if she didn't need a new bumper. i had about the same thing happen to me and it was over $1,000, which was considerably lower than two other estimates i got which were 1500 and 1700!! on a side note: nice new mustang mang!!

sorry to see that happened kristen, post pics when she's all done up

Oops, your right. Im just to dang excited about my new car! Thanks. Not to jack the post but where did you get those SVT rims on your contour??

I don't think 2k is too much.

When my Dad wrecked my 4 month old Corolla last month it cost over 5k to fix. Of course, it needed a new hood, new bumper cover, new bumper, new grille, new headlights, new radiator, new radiator shroud, new electric cooling fan, new AC condnser, two new temperature sensors for my self dimming mirror and indash temp display, a front alignment, and paint for the bumper, hood, and blending for the fenders. BTW it is Silver, Silver Streak Mica to be exact.

Every single part down to the fluids they had to replace is OEM. I insisted on it, and I checked when I got the car back. I ended up taking the car back because the gap between the hood and grille was 1/4" too big. I had to fight for OEM parts, my smart ass insurance adjuster told me, "We only replace parts with OEM on NEW cars." I had to argue with him until I was blue that a 4 month old 2005 model year car with 2k miles on it that I custom ordered and drove off the lot with 3 miles on it was a new car. He finally gave in. Damn do I hate insurance.

Good luck with getting your car fixed. If you can, get OEM parts, the non-OEM parts they wanted to put on my Toyota weren't acceptable in terms of fit, I wouldn't have accepted them on a 10 year old car.

Again, Good Luck.

I had a similar situation where someone backed a boat trailer into my Sport, but on the driver's side. A new fender and headlight, as well as taking a bend out of the hood and paint for everything came to $1800. That was after four quotes. I supplied my own bumper cover which came off my parts car, so I really don't know what that cost.

Kristen, do yourself a favor and ask the bodyshop, or your brother would probably be an even beter choice, to look over the suspension on that corner very thouroughly. Damage to the strut, or control arm or the tie rod is likely in a hit like that.

thanks, yeah I asked the guy at the body shop to do that, I will make sure to mention it again to him when I take my car in (he is a good friend of my brothers.) I may also have my brother look at it this weekend before I take it in just to make sure, but he is in AZ.

shouldn't the guy who plowed into you be paying for this damage, or atleast some of it?
i don't think you should have to pay for it all if it wasn't all your fault.
or was it...

It was not my fault. But michigan has "no fault" insurance.
I have no deductable (i think the way it works is his insurance covers my deductable) and then my insurance covers the rest (I think??).

so either way Insurance is covering it, how it is split among the two I am not sure. But I know nothing is coming from my pocket.
