hey again. Just wanted to know if anyone had a link to hightower's step-by-step on how to "black in" your headlights. It seems like the page has just dissappeared off the internet since he chenged his website. But, if nothing else, if i figure I can feel my way thru it just fin: 1.) dremel off the sealant holding the tabs in place 2.)pry off plastic cover 3.)sand portion to be painted 4.)mask off reflectors 5.)paint away! 6.)put it all back together and seal it back up am I missing anything? anyone have that link? Thanks guys

Actually, you don't just cut the tabs, you cut the whole thing apart. It's not for the faint of heart. And you forgot about the hours of cussing If you're not patient, don't even try doing this yourself, it's a real PITA. PM Chris, he most likely still has the link somewhere. I have done this mod and it came out OK. I painted the inside a blue that matches my car. When you tape off the turn signal reflector, make sure you pull the tape off as fast as you can. I used the blue masking tape and thought that I was pulling fast, but I pulled some of the chrome off. Another thing, there is silver around the round edge of the headlamp, I left mine silver and thought it looked like poop when I put it on the car, due to the fact that I have a dark car....it just didn't look right IMHO. I fixed that problem too

Here's the link to my old site. I just moved it over to a "personal" directory. http://crush7.dyndns.org/personal/my_contour.htm Oh, and Dubba, it sounds pretty easy, but take it from Moe and I, it's a large undertaking to not break the thing. One of these days I'll make a more detailed How-To just to scare off anyone that wants to do it

I did this right after I got my car about 2 years ago and all I did was wash it, tape it off, and spray paint it. I Washed the parts good, dried them, taped very carefully around the relectors and painted. I covered the rest of the car in newspaper to avoid any overspray hitting the paint, but for a 3 dollar can of black spraypaint and a half hours work maybe ... it was sure the tightest looking cheap mod I have done. Here is a pic: ... that's just my opinion ... no streaks and still looks good to htis day. You really don't need to take them off and go through that whole long process. Jared.

lol, there you go! Well, thanks to your info, Moe and Chris, I'm wrapping up this little project as I type (not THAT'S skill ). Any tips on getting that silver paint off of the plastic lenses? I tried sanding it off and that just ended up looking like poop (i'll live  ). Happy Easter!
