Reliability? A 3? maybe?

Yea, good thing i bought the warranty or i would have had to put in like 8,000 worth of repairs

9. The only repairs I've had to do were typical things, especially for a car that sits for 5 months a year. -1 for the horrendously crappy stock sound system.

6 for reliability.

6 overall as well. Fun to drive, but is a very user UN-friendly car for someone with a rugrat.

IMHO one of the least reliable/hardy Ford vehicles I have driven and I have driven the following Ford Vehicles for extended periods:

1983 Escort L
1991 Escort GT
1997 Escort
2001 Escape
2000 Explorer Sport
2001 Explorer Sport
2002 Explorer Limited
1999 Cougar x2 (including a rare 2.0L Auto)
2000 Cougar x2
1999 Taurus
2002 Taurus
2001 Ranger
1999 ZX2
1999 Focus ZX3
2002 Volvo S40
2000 Lincoln LS

The 97 Escort was a POS.

1998 csvt:
waterpump went right after I got it and before I found ceg
steering rack shot, twice
imrc needs replacement now
It still starts all the time.

Believe it or not, I'd call mine a "7". My rig has 112K miles. By the time I had that many miles on a 1988 Toyota Corolla I traded in toward the svt, I'd already been into my third clutch and second timing belt and got to a third timing belt before 130K miles.

From my frying the Toyota clutches, you might figure I push cars hard, but the svt is up to it.

6.5 - Its needed two transmissions in 3 yrs - first one under warranty and now getting the real deal from HMS.

Other than that it's been pretty good to me. Starts and runs right up, no fluid leaks or electrical problems. I did put an all new suspension on at 80K, but considering the bombed out MI roads i'd say that's reasonable. Most of the other stuff has been typical high-mileage stuff like plug wires, brakes 02 sensors ...

What mostly bugs me is just the cheap feel of the car, the noises from the chassis, interior etc. I also wish I had spent less money on it in some areas.

but I'd have to give it a 9-9.5 for fun to drive.

1999 SVT. Been great, but Im dreading the big items that will need fixing eventually. She's got 76,000kms so far (47,000mi approx?). Nothing much else to say, it's a great car.. Fun to drive, and it's exclusive.

so far so good...only thing ive replaced is a corroded battery cable. I hate the way the batteries were placed in these cars. Other than that shes been solid...We will see in about a week how it goes when shes under the laughing gas. :as i flip my imaginary saftey covered toggle switch:
