All computer controlled cars have that programming. A big part of the reason is that way you can clear the cylinders when it is flooded.

So, you are saying:
1) Set parking brake (obvious why, read on)
2) Pull coil pack connector
3) depress the clutch & gas pedals TO THE FLOOR (don't have 3 feet, thus the need for step 1 above)
4) Crank engine for 30 seconds
Is that correct? I also have never heard of the no fuel on WOT during start ... learn something new every day!

I wouldn't depress the clutch as it loads up the crank axially(think about it - when yo depress the clutch it pushed the TOB onto the pressure plate which is conected to the flywheel and crank). Just put it in neutral and "floor" it.

Last I checked, you can't start a manual without depressing the clutch ... think about it 
However, you can start the cranking and then release the clutch ONLY if in Neutral, otherwise, you end up using the starter to move the car

You're right. I keep thinking about the fact I had my clutch switch disabled.

Nope. So I can reach in and start the car without having to depress the pedal.

I forgot to depress the clutch while doing a compression check...ask dale about it sometime.

I know about using the starter to move the car all to well. I bought my Cougar over a year ago and have yet to drive it anywhere because the slave cylinder was shot, so I had to starter move it everywhere. Killed the battery doing it
