I'm a "reinsurance accountant"
The month end talk is when we have to get the books ready to submit our numbers to the parent company.
Quarter and year end talk is when we have to prepare our Schedule F reporting - basically discloses more detail about the numbers on our books.
My job is to mostly make sure that the numbers are being reported accuratly. lol I don't feel like listing out in detail what I do though. It's jus too weird.
Reinsurance in general, to me, is pretty stinkin weird.
I used to work in public accounting and did do auditing. I don't ever want to go back to auditing. But since I've been there, I think I do a pretty good job helping my company's auditors when they come snooping around for stuff.
actually, i think i'm due for a raise soon too....just gotta hear back from my AVP. btw kim, wat do you do? you sound like you're either in the auditing or financial services industry with talks of month ends and stuff.
