They gave me a raise! $5k!
back in like May or something we were all given cost of living pay increases, but my boss spoke to his boss and stated that he thought I deserved a bit more of a raise then that.
He told me about that conversation back then, but honestly I didn't think much of it. I figured like $500 or something.
My feelings are that the bonus program here is beyond exceptional and brings my salary up to what I think I'm worth in this industry. Apparently they feel my work is worth more than that.
My boss said it was a pain at first because they weren't going through the proper channels to get this set in place (plus we can get really stupid busy around here during month and quarter ends, so I can see how something like this can get put off for months).
I'm beyond grateful.
I still don't feel like I deserve it, and I mentioned that to him. He said I definitely deserve it, and also, other people doing less than me for a while have been making more, so that was his initial motivation to get me the raise. He rulez.

that's great to hear! congrats.
seems like we're all in the money today. i got $150 from my boss today for helping out on a special project. totally unexpected!
i truly hope i get a raise next year, tho. a BIG ONE.

Not me .. I'm about a week away from obtaining a car loan and going even deeper in debt  ..
Congrats on the raise though .. it's always a very nice thing particularly when it's unexpected!

SAA-WEEEEET!!!  Congrats! It's also fantastic that you have a boss who sees the forest for the trees, realizes that he's got someone productive and singular, and then rewards that by going the extra mile and being persistent about the raise with his higher-up.
All too often, the prototypical bosses are the insecure Dilbert-esque types who (ab)use their power only because they can, which is really the most immature form of power (speaking from experience as a persistent underling at my workplace).
Sounds like you're in a great situation!

Congratumalations! I'm hopefully up for something decent in a couple of months. I've already gotten 2 raises... one was more of a "you passed the trial period" raise, the rest was a performance raise, which was nice. So... more passes for Mark's, eh? Yeah, we're in if it's a weekend night.
