3.5 to 4 hours is a short drive? Reminds me of a Californian friend of mine who couldn't understand that she crossed three state borders in the span of an hour over here. The furthest my family ever vacations is three hours' drive away.

Perhaps you have never heard of the Sierra Nevada mountain range where Olympic caliber skiing exists, not bunny hills like you have in the mid-west A short 3.5 - 4hr drive.

N/S Cali is almost 800 miles long E/W Cali is 200 miles across
Traffic during peak commuting hours can get pretty bad so sitting in a car for extended periods of time is something a lot of us are accustomed too.

1.5 hours gives me any of these options: Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek, Arapahoe Basin, Winter Park, Copper, Loveland, or Eldora.

Don't get too jealous, I'm so busy this year that I only going to get to go up a few times. Gonna be hard, seeing as how last season I was up at least once a week.  Oh well, guess I have to just suck it up!
