Read thst also. It was Motor Trend. Being that they are pretty much equal in performance, id go witht he STI.

the sti allows you to control the power between the front and rear, does the evo do this as well?

its a tough choice for me. i like the aggressive looks of the evo better but i would feel more comfortable investing in a subie then a mitsu.

STI, Mitsu isn't exactly known for building reliable cars.

The 4g63 is pretty reliable. From what I've seen, both cars have some tranny problems (which both boil down to abuse), with neither being much better than the other.

I have always had a love for the STI (maybe its the 300 hp stock on a four cylinder that I like.) The new STI looks OK, but it may be better to get since Subaru has probly made some adjustments to the engine and other whatnot parts of the car other than the looks. If you can wait, you might be intrested in the Evo 9 in the near future.

I wish I was in your shoes!

Get the STI, the EVO interior is really crappy. Most magazine comparisons have them really close to each other...performance wise they are about the same. STI also has that extra .5 liters! Boxer engines are cooler!

No waiting for the 9 it's here! Not much diferent than the Evo 8. Major difference is the Mivec 4g63. Basically VVT on the good ole 4g63. If one is going to wait for a Evo it will be the Evo X. I will be purchasing one, from what I see it is going to have a 6 speed clutchless gearbox w/ paddle shifter and mitsubishi is finally updating the interior! Oh yeah!
