im trying to decide weither to get an evo or the sti, i wouldnt be getting the o6 because i think its ulgy as hell so the 05 sti and 06 evo, ive heard great things about both and really only heard bad things about the evo, really just that you have to replace the tires right away and the clutch 2, also i heard the had problems with crank walk, but lets hear what you guys have to say

I'm biased first off. Evo has no crankwalk issues that I know of. That was 2nd gen DSMs that did. Evo clutch fails because of abuse. The car believe it or not wasn't meant to be launched at 6krpm drag racing over and over again. Neither car is a drag racing car. The tires wear because they are soft compound, the STI tires will wear just as quickly. EVO takes to mods nicely and is a lot cheaper to mod than the STI. I agree with the statement I've heard that the STI is a highly tuned road car and the EVO is a race car. The STI is nicer on the inside and the 2.5L tourque is nice but I ride in my friends STI all the time and I drive my EVO everyday, I would never give up my EVO for a STI. ANd yes I'm on my second clutch, the front rotors are warped, and it makes a ton of funny noises. I still love it. EVO all the way.

Pick based on looks. Everything else is close enough that it doesn't really matter. Like BStoneMega said, the only problem the Evo has is its abused. Do the same to an STi and it'll eventually turn up the same result. The '06 Evo did have a handful of nice upgrades from the previous years model. Some technical things that gives it a slightly fatter torque curve and some other goodies. In this months issue of one of the major auto magazines (don't remember which ironically..) they do an Evo vs. STI test. They come out with the STI on top, but just because its now cheaper than a new Evo.

Every vehicle test i've read comparing the two the STi always comes out on top.

Every comparison I read puts them about the same. For me, I'd buy the evo if I really wanted to do some modding. I'd buy the sti (not 06) for looks and interior.

I was at a mitsu dealership the other day and they had one of the new MR edition Evo's on the lot. Pretty sweet ride though I was a bit surprised at the 36K sticker price.

I love my STi and like the interior a lot better than the Evo, which is basically what swayed me to the STi instead of the Evo. I also love the boxer rumble, and there's also less STi's on the road than Evo's (at least in my area), so that's also a big plus. The only way I would get an Evo over the STi would be if I got a MR, but I think that those are overpriced.
