I want to go to the junkyard to get a replacement fuel pump-to-fuel filter plastic fuel line. The Haynes manual doesn't really explain anything, but the diagram looks pretty simple--a plastic connector at the pump, and a plastic connector (obviously) at the fuel filter.

Anybody ever remove one of these? Can I just snake it out, or do you need to drop the tank? Anyone ever buy one of these new? Cost?

Also, my sister's boyfriend works at an auto parts store, and he said those fuel line repair kits actually work pretty well if you do it right. Anyone have any experience with these?

If you are lucky you would be able to just unhook it from the fuel module under the seat and the filter and then snake it out but it is probably snapped into the tank some where. The snap for the fuel line may be on the side of the tank but I'm not sure. You may also only have to loosen the tank so you can get it through. It usally is very tight above tanks.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Although I'm not totally terrified of dropping the tank, I have to admit.

I think I priced this part at a dealer a while back and it was super cheap. Why waste even a little money on a junkyard part for something relatively important?

yeah, you may be right. The last time I called the dealer on it, he said it was $192 just for the line. But he may have been thinking about another line. I just can't imagine less than three feet of plastic fuel line costing $192, even at a dealer.
