I have two screens - a Dell E172FP 17" (bought for $250 shipped from eBay in Dec. 04) and a Dell Ultrasharp 1704FPT 17" (bought new $200 shipped from Dell.com in June 05). Goes to show how the prices are dropping, the difference in quality between the two monitors is quite noticeable when you mirror the image. Up against my G4's Apple Studio Display (last model CRT Apple ever made), they are far clearer and brighter, and the image doesn't wiggle or waver when something bright is in a select area like CRTs. I will never voluntarily own a CRT again.
As for the 17" .. I can't really go any bigger. Truthfully, if I had my way, I'd probably own a couple 15" Dell LCDs with 1280x1024 resolution ... given if they existed ...
