My problem w/ 20"+ LCD's (4:3 or 16:9) is they cost $400-600 when a decent 19" 1280 is only $240. I guess I'd rather have dual 17" 1280 LCD's for $350 than a single 1600 20" LCD. The price jump from 19->20" is huge, like double compared to 17"-19" for $175->$250. Gimmie 19" 1600x1200 (no thank you on the 16:9) for $350.

The market must not support it as there are too many people with burred vision from their CRT's?

Re: laptop screens. My Dell 600m 14.1" screen w/ 1400x1050 cost $742. Half that cost was not the screen. Replacement laptop LCD's are expensive because the market is small based on 1 million different LCD/housing combo's. People just buy a whole new laptops.
