Any shocks/struts can provide good damping during large wheel motions. It's the quality ones that provide damping during small wheel motions that improves the ride quality.
Im in the same boat your in i got over 100k on my stock struts and close to 20k on the h&r's i know i need new struts but now that i dont have a job i cant spare the change. And im not gonna buy cheap replacements just so they go bad. Ill wait till i can afford koni's.
