question for the pros:

i've got mixed answers so far. is it ok to jack the front of our cars up by the front subframe? i'm aware of the jacking points, so you don't have to remind me...just wondering if the front subframe was an ok alternative. my floor jack doesn't make it through the jack cutouts to jack on the proper points, and it'd be a lot easier to just jack the whole front end from that one spot then block or put the jackstands on the jack points. thanx for the info! and i did search, but nothing informative came up.

soon i'm gonna make ramps so i can just drive it up to do most everything i need to do under the car.

you shouldn't do that, but there are points for the floor jack immediately aft the subframe. there are two beams under the body which are hard to miss.
and yes it was covered in the past wink

"jacking on subframe," shouldn't this be in the "Behind Closed Doors" topic?

Was that a bad joke or what?

jacking the subframe no problem. I have supported the whole weight of the car my the subframe directly under the radiator. Didn't bend and I think that was the ultimate test.
