Just picked it up today. Got the v8 with the 6 speed. Nice truck. We drove everything in its class. Not only was it a great deal but it also drove the best. Much better interior then last year and the engine is quite nice.

Looks nice. Having not driven one I'm curious as to whether you drove it against the VW Toureg (sp?). I'm nearly certain that VW will be my wife's next car when her Odyssey lease is up in June, but I will have driven probably 30 cars before I make a decision.

I like the new interior. And the extra 60HP or whatever doesn't hurt either. And I'm surprised they kept the price down as much as they did.

Drove it against almost everything out there. The Toureg has a real nice interior but was pricey and underpowered. For 40k you didn't even get power seats. (My wife had a VW before... horrible disaster of a car) I felt that the Explorer rode better and had a lot more power (6 speed with v8 is a nice combo). The interior isn't as snazzy but I felt it was just as comfortable and quieter. I didn't get the third row but as far as third rows go its not bad at all. Also ford is always running good deals. Give the explorer a shot...
My father has an Aviator (a lot of the explorer updates came from the Lincoln) and puts 25,000 miles a year on it. Its been an excellent vehicle for him.

We were in the same boat, but after driving a Toureg and RX330 back-to-back, it became clear that the Lexus was the right car for us. Not to mention, if you look at Toureg resale values, they fall pretty quickly, while the Lexus holds it's value amazingly well.
We've only had the RX for about 3 months, but we're already at 9500 miles, and I just can't say enough great things about it!

Is that a six speed manual with the V8? I didn't know you could get it that way... Sweet! --T.J.
