The factory subframe was underdesigned, underengineered and poorly welded to top it off. I've pulled subframes from low mileage, softly driven cars with 18mm sway bars which had the subframe sway bar mounts bent. An additional 2 inches of weld around the "socket" would have been an immense improvement. You think maybe Ford knew something when they downsized the rr sway bars starting in '98?

Once it's torn, there's only 1 way to fix it right.....
