I've recently updated my front engine mount with the HD insert sold by BAT Inc. My 98 Contour has over 110,000miles and exhibits usual aged problem of clunkiness while shifting - the general feeling of looseness up front.

With the inserts in place, I noticed more solid feel to the car. Not only during shifting but while going over rough road(which means any road in SE Michigan).

To me it was worth $20 for parts and 1.5 hours spent to install them.

Point of clarification.

He is talking about the ES insert for the front transmission roll resistor.

I just got a set, by mistake. I thought they were the other mount inserts. Maybe I'll just keep them and put them in anyway.

I also noticed smoother clutch take-up.

Demon's clarification is right, it's the one mounted to transmission vs. engine.

The bolts, after 7years, didn't need much torque to take off. Little bit of PB Blaster and came off with hand tools. BTW, loosen one of the top bolt on trans side but don't take it all out. It will help immensely during reassembly.
