FWIW, when I was at NOPI in atlanta, K&N had a booth and spoke to them about their filters. They said the biggest problem they had was people overcleaning the filters because they looked dirty. They said that 30K miles on some oil with all the dirt that is in it is nothing on these filters and better in the long run.
I don't even bother to clean mine now, at least not for another year or so.
