I fitted the universal K&N conical air filter to my 2.5L V6. Had it for about 2 years and recently changed back to OEM system including the snorkle to front fender area.

Here are my thoughts in no order of importance:
Pro's - Induction sound is 'muscular'
There is 'wow' factor with hood open(rarely)

Con's - When not in the mood, induction sound is noisy
Air intake temperature sensor has no place to firmly mont
There is no perceived power increase, fuel economy improvement
Back-of-mind worry about water ingestion in rain
More sensitivity to underhood air temperature
Back-of-mind worry about oiling too much after cleaning

All in all, con's weighed more than pro's and I reverted back to disposable factory filter set up. Just my 2 cents over last 2 years of having the K&N in my Contour.

LMAO

The water-injestion concern is not warranted unless you ford rivers, in which case if you got the water level that high to start with you'd have other issues already.

... There are no cons for a K&N, heatsoak?? Build a Heatshield. Oiling issues??? Dont be a retard. Water issues?? I dont see how you could get water past a heat shield.

I love the Sound of my K&N and dont think i could ever go back to stock.

I don't think I gained any power with my K&N, according to the track times, it slowed me down a little, but weather/conditions too many variables and not enough runs don't let me conclude that I lost power.

I'm pretty sure that when I get my glass pack resonated SVT exhaust from Chris and get my y-pipe optimized i'll pick up some ponies though!

I do miss the sound of it though... I'm tempted to put it back on just for the sound...

K&N is superior to paper, but so is the woven cotton design, minus the K&N flaw.
That is all.
