speaking of fuel filter is there a how to on it i don't think it would hurt if i changed mine considering it has 93k on the stock one

Sticky IT! someone! I've been meaning to do that for awhile. I figure at 103,xxx on the original filter, it's time to change.

my 99 mtx got 36.3 mpg on my last trip on the highway, but i was very carefull about my shifting patterns and i kept it around or under 65 the whole way, my 02 focus only had 11,000 miles when i got it and that never got over 31 mpg, but it was auto

*was searching for posts* Got a bag of autolite 5364s sitting in a bag next to my table waiting for install tomorrow  .. in a silvertop-powered mystique I'm taking the 15.whatever with a huuuuuge bag of salt. Maybe at high altitude? Dunno. I do know that zetecs are super picky about conditions - on different days at the same spot (particular freeway onramp), I've flown onto the freeway faster than I ever imagined, and gotten the "0-60 in .. eventually" too. Then again, the mystique's a "sometimes it starts great, sometimes it doesn't start, idling too high and misfiring all the time" car - not bad misfires, but misfires nonetheless. I think it's the old spark plugs. They're older than yo mamma!

I've changed mine every spring, at the same time as the cabin air filter, regular air filter, breather filter, gapping spark plugs, etc... My car gets a good spring cleaning.

If the old one works just fine (I wouldn't go more than 4 or 5 years on one) then the only thing changing it achieves is lightening your wallet.

I disagree. It is preventenative maintence. The whole idea of that is fixing things before they break to stop more expensive or inconvienent problems. After a year, mine had a good deal of rust. I wouldn't want to be driving and have the gas just start pouring out over a simple $6 part.
