The clay bar can be purchased at just about any Walmart or Auto zone. Some of the brands are Mothers, Clay Magic, and Zaino Z18 (I believe). If you have a lot of water spots or nasty contaminants, it works wonders.

Technically waxing your car also takes the clearcoat off your car. Have you ever waxed a non-clearcoated car? If so you will notice the color of the car will stain the cloth you are using.
I've been using Claybars for 5 years and STRONGLY recommend them. You won't believe how nice your paint will look and feel after.

Stupid question...is it just standard clay? Some special car clay bar? Where can I get one? Mothers sells a kit at most places that sell car stuff for around $15.

Take a thin plastic bag, (or bargain brand kitchen plastic wrap) and place it between your finger and the car surface and lightly rub the paint. You will feel all the contaminants in the paint. It will feel like the paint is VERY rough. Use the clay bar, and try this process again. You will be amazed at the smooth difference and will have no doubts as to the benefits of a clay bar.

WOW, thanks for the info! As soon as it gets warm out, the ding guards are coming off, and I'm going to give my 'tour the best waxing EVER. BTW, is the 3M wax only available online? I used it on my Accord and loved it but nodoby in town carries it anymore. And whats the deal with Zaino? Is it really THAT good?

The 3M swirl remover should be in local stores, but if none in your area, I'm sure on-line. And whats the deal with Zaino? Is it really THAT good? Short answer: Yes Long Answer: Search Asthetics and pics & vids forums for "Zaino".

I recommend using the mothers kit-I was amazed at how much "stuff" came off the car when I used the bar-and the car looked amazing, people always ask me if it is a year or 2 old instead of 6 years old.
