They should not be. The only taper would be from wear. Taper wear to the cylinder is not nearly as common as it was 30 or 40 years ago. For the most part cylinder taper wear is no slight that you seldom dnned a ridge reamer to remove pistons from the top any more. My ridge reamer hasn't been out of my tool box for over 30 years.
