This is a problem I've had since I got the car. I thought I would cure the prob by changing plugs, wires, cleaning the MAF and TB, seafoaming the UIM/LIM and replacing the air filter, again. Anyway when trying to take off rather quickly with the pedal at least 2/3 down the car just kinda moves like the pedal is about an 1/8 depressed, then shoot, it's like a Turbo just kicked in and I'm gone, now. But of course it takes about 75 to 100 feet before it flies. To me this ain't throttle hang but maybe I'm wrong. Or is this somewhat normal for a '95 Duratec ATX? My wife's '96 Zetec ATX respondes alot better than my Duratech.

Later. Pepse.

what is the gas level in that tank when this happens?

also at what rpm does the power kick in?

I have same issue with my 98 2.5 ATX. Slow at first but then it moves quickly after the car gets to 50 MPH. However there are times when it is cold (i.e. engine not fully warmed up) when it runs well and this symptom is not displayed. Then the nice stataco exhaust note is heard and power is delivered to wheels and acceleration is normal.
Plug changes, UIM/LIM cleaning, IAC valve cleaning, new wires, MAF cleaning all make no difference. TPS is working fine.
It was fine before I had the ATX rebuilt so I suspect it has something to do with that. When starting off from lights after fully warmed up the engine increases revs but no power. Perhaps the IMRC is opening up secondaries too soon. I may try and disconnect to see what happens to acceleration.

I suspect Pepse's secondaries are stuck open.

Especially if the "boost" occurs between 3.5 and 4 K RPMs.

He should check vac lines to, & the linkage of, the secondaries also.

Zero vac on the '95 will leave the secondaries open, and if the linkage is not hooked up, he may have only one bank working.

Check your linkage also.

First to say; brapple, amount of gas doesn't matter. Second, my car acts like dellown's almost to a "T", including the fact my ATX has been rebuilt and it didn't change anything. And yeah, when it is cold it runs excellent; lots of good power. The best I can say the vacuum lines seem to be good; no leaks. But, if there is a problem with the secondaries why does it perform great when cold? I have also noted that when I manually shift the ATX the pickup in speed is a little better. Also, not that I think it important but I always start out with the O/D off and do not turn it on until I'm past 40mph; I have done that with all automatic O/D trannys sine the early '80's. I know that on the AOD's it changes the shift points so I assume the same for these newer pushbutton O/D's.

First off, my IMRC linkage is fine. Changed the grommets this summer with an UIM/LIM cleaning and have visually confirmed IMRC and linkage work when reving engine. However do you notice sometimes that when there is pretty much normal power with the engine warmed up that pushing a little bit more on the accelerator from standstill has the effect of a large increase in revs plus a change in exhaust note (goes flat) and power drops off. That is; no resulting acceleration proportional to engine apeed. It feels as if the engine is free wheeling to a large extent and not transmitting much power through transmission.

slipping clutch at high load- low speed. dissolves once moving.

test by:
going 10-15 mph, 5th gear shift. FLOOR it. do revs rise without going anywhere? (hope not)

or...

Clogged CATS and no power.. (flat exhaust tone, etc, etc..)
