So I was driving to the movie theatre today and there was a van infront of me turning so I passed him on the left. So, I jammed the gas, enough for the rpms to shoot up and then let off. My car gave a significant "buck." Almost like it was shifting hard. Anyone know what this is about?

If it is an ATX, could be the TSS.

Correct, an ATX. What is the TSS again?

TSS is the Turbine Speed Sensor. I had that problem with my '95 Mystique. A rather inexpensive part and theoretically easy to change. Changing it could take anywheres from 15 minutes to 3 hours; I'd be looking at the 3 hours as we live in the upper Rust Belt. There is a "Howto" in the ATX/MTX forums. Not sure how close you are to the twin cities but you could get a discount on parts from Steve at Tousley Ford.
Later. Pepse.

sounds like bad driving/poor timing to me. if you let off on an atx right when it's about to shift, it's going to do that.

Not having your BOV recirculating on an OBD2 car will have that effect also.

Definitely. My car's done it when I had to do emergency maneuvering and then slow down quickly again, and I've been in other cars (all different manufacturers) with autos that do it when they're accelerating hard.

So its prolly nothing to worry about then? Just don't do it when I don't need to? Its happened a few times in my car but yesterday it was a pretty hard buck, almost like a jerk. I guess I'll just slow er down...wait a minute I'm talking about my Contour...n/m.
