about your vent issue, I'm pretty sure that the whole panel has to be replaced. I've had my panel off several times, for working on my gauges, and also wanted to fix my left drivers side vent. Not sure about a mystique, but on a contour, the vents are spot welded in place and there's not really any good way to take it apart w/o breaking the plastic vent housing
could be different for a mystique though.
