Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums General Troubleshooting 1999 SE Concern on lack of airbag sensors

I had this is my first post on the accident with my 1999 SE, but thought it best to do a new posting; I did not see anything in the FAQ on MISSING sensors...My wife rear ended a Ranger and put my car under the ranger's rear bumper. I bought a used front clip from the cowl forward, and the Clip had airbag sensors where they should be. My Contour did not.
***question about the airbags, BIG worry****
I noticed that my contour was missing the air bag sensors. {the ones mounted on the radiator support, behind the grille.}
I was happy at first the bags did not blow, but now I am worried about that...my contour did not have the airbag sensors on the old radiator support...not even their mount brackets...I am sort of upset about this. Question is, should I install the sensors from the svt?
Don't touch it?
Should I go back to my dealer and say something?
I don't like complaining, never sued anyone or any company, but man, something like this seems like a law suit. Maybe I'm just blowing smoke...just worried more than anything else.

Talk to the dealer and see what they are willing to do about it. I thought I read somewhere that federal law says that you need passive restraints on a new vehicle. I don't think the law requires to have them reinstalled after it has being deployed (if it was deployed prior to you purchasing the used vehicle). But you might want to do a little research on this.
