The 2003 Miata I traded in was my first new car. It was the base model with suspension package and LSD. I got a really good deal on it at the end of 2003. It was the perfect color. I basically bought the car for $5600 off sticker with 3 mi on the clock and they gave me a decent figure on the SVT Contour.
I got $6000 off the Mazdaspeed and they gave me more than $4000 more than any other dealer was offering on my car. With the difference in pricing, I'll only lose two years of my loan and the already low payment bumped up a couple bucks.
Exclusivity is another thing. My 2003 was 1 of 1722 made in Garnet Red. However, there were supposed to be 4000, 2005 Mazdaspeed Miatas (as there was in 2004). The Lava Orange and Black Mica were two new Mazdaspeed colors available in 2005. The Miata factory burnt down after they had built on 1428. Out of the 1428 that were made, it's beleived that most were Velocity Red and Titanium Grey (the only colors available on the 2004 Mazdaspeed). The Black and Orange are beleived to be some of the rarest colors available.
Color is very important to resale. Then I had traded the SVT in, the head of the car reconditioning department bought it right off the dealer floor as I was swapping out the plates. As I was on the test drive yesterday, the dealer moved my 2003 into their show room floor because they sold that car like hot cakes in 2003. The ornage is exclusive, Everyone that has seen it in person absolutely loves it. It was snowing lightly yesterday when I brought it home, so the color appears a little dull. Here is a photo another owner took in morning sunlight:
The wheels are 17" Racing Harts from the factory. Aside from beaing a PITA to clean, I think they fit the car very well. My 2003 had 16s and without a drop kit there was alot of wheel gap.
Thanks for the compliments guys!
