Wanted to introduce myself to the forum, been a lurker here for awhile. I have owned my 99 SE for almost 6 years and it has been the most trouble free autos I have ever owned. Because of it,(the lack of problems) I have begun to realize one of my dream, to build a Factory Five Roadster (Cobra) http://www.factoryfive.com/index.html and I also frequent this forum as well. http://www.ffcobra.com/

I plan on keeping my 99 SE for awhile longer (only has 63K) but to keep it fresh, I want mod it into Mondeo ST200 clone. So I'll be around pestering everyone with stupid questions about my car and what I plan on doing to it.

Hello to all

Pat

Mike,

The F5 coupe is next for me too...five or so years (Don't tell my wife) Another reason the Contour is going stay Have you been in one, not a car just to jump into and go to the market with. Yeah, the doors open, but it really dosen't help very much I'm a Ford man, so I love the early Shelby cars. Have you seen this kit? LS40 http://www.lonestarclassics.com/ It's Focus based but I have seen something about fitting a Contour Duratec in it. I'm going to spend some time looking into it. See what you think.

the ls40 looks cool but i would want to put at least a 302 in it. a boosted zetec might be cool but a car like that should have a big v8. i have a place to store and work on the coupe kit near my house so i can get over there as much as possible. i am giving myself a few years to finish the coupe so i dont rush things. plus, it will be a very big learning experience and it will take me some time to take it all in. i wont be getting groceries in the coupe i promise you that.

The biggest problem with "Real" GT40 kits is the transaxle. The price for something that can handle a mild SBF is going to cost you. The idea behind the LS40 is being able to find parts that real people can afford. Build costs for other kits are 50k to 100k+, while the LS40 can be build around 30k. If you have any questions about F5R just drop me a line.

Even better in person. When I picked up my kit, they had the prototype getting some final changes. Amazing when you think what it takes to design/build a car, a small company like F5R has come up with the GTM. It sits very low and wide using Corvette running gear with a Porsche G50 transaxle.

If you visit or live near Cape Cod, you must go to the factory (Wareham, MA) You won't beleive the showroom with 10-12 Cobras waiting for you to enjoy!

I wonder how it would hold up. Hopefully it's engineered properly. If I did get the GTM (maybe 10 years from now), I'd redo the bodywork to make it look like the original concept.
