Demon, where would you put the stock manifolds WITHOUT gutted pre-cats?

The threads I've read on the subject and my own experience with gutted manifolds indicate that there is no measurable gain from gutting precats as the enlarged chamber & subsequent piping slow the exhaust flow to ruin exhaust scavenging. So, precats are not really a big restriction compared to gutting. The stock manifolds just SUCK. Headers will net you between 5 and 15% HP increase at the wheels & very noticable torque gain.
Dammit! Now I have to go order some MSDS headers!

SVT airbox appears to be good to about 200 wHP with the many dyno's I've run and seen, but that is on a 3L which is wheezing its way up to 200 wHP. Just pulling stock SVT filter off for one run was good enough for a 5-6HP gain in back to back runs.
For the 2.5L with less displacement it my start affecting things lower, in the 180 wHP range.

I know I'm not demon but you might want an additional opinion. The stock precats aren't that restrictive. They use essentially the same precats on the escape with very little detriment in power. That is if the precats are flowing like new. If they are plugged then it would be #1 in the list. List: Stock crush flange in the Y-pipe. Stock panel airbox. Stock resonator. ***Rear 1->2 y-pipe on quasi-dual SVT system (sometimes found to have metal restricting flow and necking down) Stock muffler. ***Precats*** Stock UIM Stock TB. Stock heads. Stock LIM.

The precat manifolds are fairly restrictive. However it's the log design and not really the catalyst material. I missed those.
I would put them near the bottom of the "stock" list (above the heads) and right above the "SVT" parts on the "SVT" list.
I have cut my rear Y-split apart. It was well made and would pose no significant flow restriction as the 2.25" O.D. pipe splits to twin 2" O.D. piping. I would not even list it.
Other flow restrictions:
Stock airbox (it's so obvious though!)
Stock accordian tube
SVT accordian tube
SVT airbox
Stock MAF

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

I haven't seen anyone mention it before, so I don't know if my exhaust is a rare bastard, but the bend right before my resonator is not mandrel -- it's crushed. Been trying to ignore it until I get a new full exhaust, but it still bugs me.

You're a good man, Tourige. Glad you didn't take the ribbing personally.
