I was bored (oil change), so I took out an SE V6.

Nice feeling and ride. The Duratec is strong as ever. The interior was nicely put together. Trip computer even has a nifty timer in it. It handled pretty well too. A whole lot of room inside compared to the Focus and the Contour.

The one thing about the SE is how bland it is, compared to the SEL. There's a bit more chrome on the SEL to make it more distinctive. The 5-speed auto does hunt for gears sometimes, so the auto journalists were right on that. Not crazy about the $35K price for an SEL Although, you can get more hosed by going with a Lincoln Zephyr for $45K (although HID's are an option on that).

BTW, get your car serviced at a dealer, and you scratch & win some neat stuff. I got a compact umbrella today. Grand draw is a new Fusion.

our local dealer has a Fusion sitting on the lot. Very nice looking car in person,I like it alot. I was reading some reviews of it,and overall they are very good. I think Ford has a winner on it's hands. Does the Fusion fit inbetween the Focus and Taurus,or is it replacing the Taurus?

The Taurus is still being produced (mainly for fleet reasons). Plus, I think the Five Hundred and the Fusion were supposed to replace the Taurus all together. There's probably some contractual obligation to keep the Kansas City plant in operation to keep the plant open. I really think it's a waste to have three cars in the marketplace that ultimately hurt each others' sales.

I looked at it today as well as the Zephyr. I really don't like the high dashboard on the Zephyr. They also had a 5 speed 4 cylinder on the lot. Wonder how that one drives.

I think the 4 cyl is the only one available with a stick, the V6's are either 4 or 5,or is it 5 or 6 speed autos only.

If they make an SVT version, they need the V6 on a stick!

Actually, it's long rumoured the SVT version will be an AWD 2.3L turbo I4 (i.e. Mazdaspeed6-ish). But at this rate, we really don't know anything as Ford's upper management gets shaken up.

The 4 will be available with an auto, but later. I'll drive that later when it comes in.

hmm, turbo 4 sounds fun. SRT4 rival perhaps. Too bad the SRT4 will be dead and replaced by the Caliber by then.

I dont think SVT will go with the 4 banger. Im sure they will NA or Supercharge the V-6, imo its what they should do. AWD Supercharged V6 my only complaint about the Fusion is the Steering wheel, it is god-awful
