4SE's is JD's dad, is he not? and i agree with him. it's one thing to misspell something here or there, it's another when posts become unreadable.

i think a good analogy is to how someone speaks. who would you rather talk to? someone who speaks clearly and concisely, or someone who mumbles, slurs, and is generally incoherent?

Wellâ?¦where do I start? I guess Iâ??ll take it from the bottom up

MX: Yes, Iâ??m J-Dâ??s dad and Iâ??m older than dinosaur crap. That doesnâ??t make me any smarter than anybody else on here; Iâ??ve just been around a lot longer.

dnewman: 1.) I can just barely control my own life. I canâ??t control anybody elseâ??s, and I wouldnâ??t even try.
2) Whatâ??s the point of this dialogue? Itâ??s unintelligible.
3.) Iâ??m not trying to tell anybody how to live his life. Iâ??m simply stating the fact that, in a civilized society, rules exist. If you insist on breaking these rules, you do so at your own peril. I didnâ??t make these rules and I cannot enforce them. I have to abide by them just like everyone else.
4.) Employers donâ??t usually check on a personâ??s Internet grammar/spelling. Read my post again. It says, â??There is a BIG difference between stylized writing on the net and just BAD usage and spellingâ?. I full well realize that usages as the words â??uâ? (for â??youâ?) and â??prollyâ? (for â??probablyâ?) are being increasingly used for the purposes of expediency and just being â??coolâ?, but, used over time, compromise our language and make it sloppy. Comprehension is essential to good communication.
5.)Your mechanicâ??s anecdote is, again, unintelligible. Whatâ??s the point of the story? Work on communication.

Raw: So you DO write differently when you send reports to the Big3 than you do on the CEG? You also agree that grammar is important. Weâ??re probably more in agreement than we originally thought, and you were probably just huffing off steam with all that â??Donâ??t give a hootâ? and â??Naziâ? talk.

Monkey: Yes, even after over fifty years of trying to get my punctuation right by rote and repetition, I still have trouble. The wrongful routine of purposefully using bad usage/grammar/punctuation in â??net-talkâ? would only worsen my plight. The only thing I can resolve to do is to learn from my mistakes and accept criticism graciously. Thanks for the help.

00SVT: I find the punctuation rules governing use of commas rather vague. My sentences tend to go rather long and run-on because I try to pack in a lot of ideas, thus compounding the problem.

TO ALL: Like it or not, people judge us by how we write, talk, dress, cut our hair, our tattoos, our piercings etc Most of the time it doesnâ??t matter what people think, but some of the time we may send the right people the wrong message, with life-changing results. I guess the teens and twenties are the time of revolt and self-expression, but donâ??t fall into what I call the â??Fonzi syndrome.â? Remember him? He was the character from â??Happy Daysâ? who dressed â??Greaseâ? and got bad grades on purpose in order to impress his friends and show that he didnâ??t kow-tow to the â??manâ? or â??The Establishment.â? To obey the rules meant he was â??foldingâ? or â??giving upâ?. Well, sometimes you have to go along just to get along. Just about every mistake you guys will ever make, Iâ??ve already made. I wasnâ??t trying to control anybody, just give someone the benefit of my experience and the vantage point on how it looks from the â??other end of the tunnel.â?

i'm john-david (jd). and actually 4SE's is a special case for a plural. obviously you don't even know the proper usage of an apostrophe. the amount of ignorance and lack of respect for other people on this board is overwhelming. get your act together newman and quit being an a-hole.

You are honestly telling me that you got upset up over that? It was a joke, and admittedly a bad one, it worked better said aloud.

"obviously you don't even know the proper usage of an apostrophe"

Obviously, you don't know when to use a comma.

You see how childish it appears to correct someone's grammar on a internet forum? I'll admit that I have corrected people's spelling and grammar before, but only when trying to be as condescending as I possibly can. Like it or not, people who correct spelling and grammar come across as [censored] sometimes. Besides, your father seemed to be able to handle himself on his own, no need to get your panties in a bunch and jump in on this.

didn't you ask who i was? i'm pretty sure that allows me to find the need to jump in on this. also, don't correct my punctuation when it's not incorrect .

Sorry.

Your disregard for upper case letters will lead to the fall of humanity. Sorry, they aren't my rules but I have to live by them.
