Correct that it was 5.7L 346ci v8. However, you are still wrong in thinking that Cadilac designed it or that it was based on the Northstar. The 04/05 CTS-V engine was exactly the same as the 04 Corvette Z06. The only differences lay in the air intake and the exhaust routing...which led to its marginally different horsepower rating 400 (vs 405 in the Z06). Also as stated before, the Northstars were all DOHC designs while the LS6/LS2 are both pushrod based.
