I believe it was the Last gen Regal that had the 3.8L supercharged not the century (not that it matters we got what you meant.)I think it went under the Grand Sport (GS) trim level but still far and away from ever being a GN!
I did read in Nov. 05 Moor Trend that GM has definitely axed any RWD platforms for Buick

Baby boomers who are used to driving brands like Toyota/Lexus, Acura/Honda, Nissan/Infiniti, Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, and Mazda?
How do you stack a dying brand devised from rebadged GM failures up against the new giants of the industry?
The logic just isn't there, I'm afraid. Besides, this approach would take away from your Caddy buyers. Better to add innovation to the Caddy product lineup and extend that brand than waste time and effort on one that has lost all respect in the industry, except for those individuals born before 1940.

not surprising, is it?
and thank goodness they brought back the portholes! in BWTM a few weeks back they had a quote from Lutz saying that the only reason he put portholes on the car was because Maserati has them on the Quattroporte. Lutz is simply a marketing GENIUS!
Buick is a brand that should no longer exist. the Grand National is now a 20-something-year-old car. i certainly don't think of the GN when i think about automotive innovation. buh bye, Buick.
Put down the haterade.
i just want to see GM succeed and they clearly aren't winning any battles.

Look, Buicks are NICE cars, I don't care what anyone says. Sure, the suspension is all pillowy and soft, but it feels nice and luxurious. I learned to drive in an '03 LeSabre Custom modded for drivers ed. That car was NOT sporty, but I loved how nice it was inside. Buicks are nice, functional cars. Period. I thought I'd also like to address the whole "O MY GAWD CAN GM FIT A V8 IN A FWD SEDAN?" question. For one, Gm's been doing it for years. In fact, most Cadillacs have been coming in V8-FWD trim for ages. And those weren't little baby V8s either. Those were Northstar 350s. Plus the Aurora also had a V8 option. It isn't new for GM to do this.

Buick consistently ranks among the best brands in most quality ratings. Their cars are relatively boring, and rightfully so, they should be. Are there numbers showing that old people are buying less buicks and more Lexus type cars that you have to choose either a smaller car or higher price tag with negligibly better (in some cases) quality than a Buick? I don't doubt they are losing market share like every other domestic brand, but I don't the their outlook is completely bleak in their market. Getting more "sporty" is going to do just about nothing to retain a Lesabre owner, and making a big luxury car isn't going to appeal to a younger car owner, like the LaCrosse is targeted at. I would say this is an entirely appropriate car for the segment, whereas the LaCross seems to have missed the mark slightly.

WTF is a "Northstar 350"?
Reading all these BS "facts" you continue to spout is getting old.

The Oldsmobile "Rocket" V8 was the first post-war OHV V8 at General Motors. Production started in 1949, with a new generation introduced in 1964. Like Pontiac, Olds continued building its own V8 engine family for decades, finally adopting the corporate Chevrolet 350 small-block and Cadillac Northstar engine only in the 1990s.
All Oldsmobile V8s use a 90° bank angle, and most share a common stroke dimension: 3.4375 in (87.3 mm) for early Rockets, 3.6875 in (93.7 mm) for later Generation 1 motors, and 3.385 in (86 mm) for Generation 2. The engine could be classified as a small-block, but Oldsmobile used a higher deck height for a 4.25 in (107.9 mm) stroke to boost displacement to a big-block-like 455 in³ (7.5 L).
The Rocket V8 was the subject of many first and lasts in the automotive industry. It was the first mass-produced OHV V8 in 1949; the first use of electronic port fuel injection in 1976; and was the last carbureted engine passenger car engine in 1990
Never was there a "Northstar 350", but the Northstar was derived from the old Oldsmobile V8 Small block to PRODUCE a 350 Chevy motor, and the northstar 4.2L 276 cu.in. V8, used in teh Aurora.
