I wish I could strangle the neck of whoever decided to switch to returnless fuel pump because I think it's going out. Earlier today the car began bucking and eventually died on me. It would re-start and run, but would die after a few minutes. It had half a tank so I filled it up and it ran great.

Not 50 miles afterwards, it's doing this again. It began to buck at around 3/4 full so I'm sure this is the fuel pump filter screen clogged up. Still, what does the P0190 mean? I hate replace the pump if I don't have to, but it looks like I have no choice. Bad Ford.

P0190 - FRP Sensor Signal Low.

Best thing I can say is to check fuel pressure with engine running. If the sensor is going out, fuel pressure should go too high and the engine would flood. If it's the pump, fuel pressure will fall too low.

So when the new pump is put in (if it's bad) should I make sure the filter screen is taken out?
