Exterior looks will catch the judges attention. A nice clean paint job.. nice rims.. wing.. body kit if you want.. Interior and engine mods will keep the judges attention. Your defiently gonna have to take your time and spend a good amount of money. Just do everything tastefully and cleanly.

I entered Summer Slam last year at E-town NJ in the stock SUV class. Ok i have a purple metallic flake paint job that was JUST Zainoed and a pair of 15" Strokers in the back....rest of teh truck is stock, but stil, #1588 of only 2200.
Who beats me? Mitsubishi Montero, everything stock except 6 10" subs in tha back and 23" rims. Looked llike ****. But sometimes thats what wins.
My opinion?
CUSTOM body kit, make it as radical as possible, 19" rims, banging system, shine up the engine to no end, shopping cart wing, AWESOME paint job (HoK, DuPont ChromaLusion, etc., no graphics just a really well thought out color), jazzed up interior (racing buckets & the like).

I get plenty of comments on my car, and many say it looks very 'factory'. Perhaps one approach is to make it look like it is all stock. Perhaps a 'what this car could have been like from the factory'.

Get the turbo first. Then, all the pretty stuff doesn't get scratched when it get's installed. Get the turbo powdercoated, and the exhaust system JetHot coated.

Yeah but it's a Contour SE I see about 10 of them a day, if you restore it back to bone stock all your work will probably get passed right over since its not a super rare car.

I kinda like the T-red so I want to keep a majority of the car T-red but I also want to throw on some Silver Frost and maybe black or white. I know those colors would look good but I can't think of a design to go with. Anyone with photoshop think they are good enough to make up some designs with those colors? I am definately going to drop it 2"s or so on either some 17"s or 18"s. 19"'s are a little much plus they don't like pot holes very well. Besides the stock 15"s looked pretty massive on the car anyway so I'll probably go with 17"s just becuase they are cheaper and there is more of a selection. Interior I was thinking of maybe black leather with red inserts and paint the dash trim red. White face guages, custom shifter knob, shift boot and a nice system with dvd player and everything. What do you guys think of that?

By the way I can paint and stitch the interior myself. Maybe I should follow in Chris' footsteps and LED my car to hades while I'm at it.
