for your safety, dont drive on those z-rated summer tires in the snow. It's like being on ice. They just dont work with snow or slush. At a minimum get some all seasons, but if your'e going to go through the expense of getting another set of tires, get blizzaks. Blizzaks are the closest thing to tank tread in the snow. You wont regret your purchase. and getting a set of stealies will pay for itself in about 1.5 years (plan on at least $40-50 to get the rubber changed on your rims, 2x/year... adds up fast, get steelies and hubcaps and you can change the wheels yourself every year for free)

I think the SVT is wonderful in the snow. Im from Cleveland and last year we got 130ish inches so I got to experience the joy of snow alot.
Now I did previously drive a t-locked mustang in the snow.. Khumos were by far the worst.. On a dry day below 50' the would spin and never catch grip even on slight touches of the pedal. So I had to goto winter tires for it and it was still hell. That car was beyond aweful.
Thus the tour seems amazing after several winters in the stang. All the hills I never was able to get up before were now simple and easy to get up in the tour. Never had any problems with the tour. And thats with TOYO PROXIES for the tires.. (Which actually have pretty decent snow reviews/rankings on tire sites)

I would have access to a mounting tool and balancer(I <3 autoshop in highschool), and I will be going up to ski country every couple weeks. Would it be better to have two sets or just mount on and off? Err this is if I do get an SVT, I do know my moms mystique is a joy in the winter, well compared to her V6 stang at least.

I have BFG Traction T/As on my E1 and it handles great in the snow. Very predictable and consistent.

Well if you run it on good tires you should be fine. I was unfortunate enough to do a 180 on a busy street last year because my tires were almost bald, but that was my fault eh? Luckily I was the only person stupid enough to be driving that day. By the way, my car is for sale. Check out the forums!

Mine handled awesome in the snow w/ steelies and Yokahama Guardex snow tires. But I put bigger brakes on the car, so they no longer fit . . .
if you want a deal on a used set of steelies w/ snows, PM me and we can work something out for mine . . .

Well, it doesn't snow very often down here, but the next time it does I'll check it.
