hello gentlemen (and i use that term loosely! )
When i got my 99 svt about a week ago the c.e.l. light and low engine coolant light was on. Went to auto zone and got the codes pulled and it was for the tps. checked it out and it was actually bad. the spring action in it was gone and it would stick. i went back and bought a new tps sensor installed it and then got another c.e.l., (the low coolant light went off for some mysterious reason after changing the tps ???? ) went back got the code pulled and it said tps out of range! there is no visible adjustment that i can see, do you think i got the wrong part or is might there be a bigger problem seeing that the low coolant light went off. the car runs good no smoke and i get about 17 to 20 mpg but the inspection is out and i have to get the emissions system working properly for to get it passed. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What is the exact CEL code for the TPS? In addition, you may want to also test coolant strength and have the level half inch above max (even though the light is off for now).

Edit. And did you do the TB cleaning as previously suggesed?

TB cleaning.

We need to talk about your TPS reports.

Yeah. The coversheet. I know, I know. Uh, Bill talked to me about it.

Yeah. Uh, did you get that memo?

Yeah. I got the memo. And I understand the policy. The problem is, I just forgot this one time. And I've already taken care of it so it's not even a problem anymore.

Yeah. It's just that we're putting new coversheets on all the TPS reports before they go out now. So if you could just remember to do that from now on, that'd be great. All right!

MrWrongGuy,

Try disconnecting your battery for a few minutes, reconnect and then see what you get.
