You also risk the chance of some azzhole throwing something into the engine bay. And what thief you know would actually take out your intake very carefully?

I can give you one good reason. AERODYNAMICS! By taking the hood off, air no longer has a smooth surface to flow on. If you have a slightest bit of knowledge about how airplane's wing works, you'll know that such irregular surface will create massive turbulance. It'll actually slow the car down and probably will make it handle like crap at high speed too. Originally posted by rgtact: The main purpose of carbon is to lighten the car anyway. So what is so wrong about taking the hood off. Besides the inclememnt weather you have nothing to risk.

The thought crossed my mind...mainly cause I was thinking of ways to get constant cold air to my intake. I wouldn't say do it if you're cruising around the streets, any kind of garbage could find it's way into your engine bay. But, if you're spending a day at the track, I see no problem. I wouldn't do it....but he's not going to hurt anyone....

It would not be smart to take off the hood, because it would totally screw up the aerodynamics. Not to mention that I don't think most things in there can stay together with wind hitting that fast. Good for cold air induction. :p
