I got a WRX because honestly the way it drove reminded me of my CSVT. Everything else I drove was just too big, slushy or not zippy enough... especially for the price range.
The new 06 WRX TR is an insane deal.

Or did you want to make payments on a $30,000+ car instead?
By comparison, a 3.0L SVT is almost a free car.
If you've got too much money, I'll PM you my address.
Moneywise, I'm fine and should be more fine in 2007; As you can imagine, being stuck in a time warp for a year does wonders for one's finances.
As for debt, I don't have much outside of my mortgage--which gets paid for by the rent of the other units in the building. I budget money aside to use as a car budget (filed under entertainment). As for vacations, I'm still young enough that I don't mind staying in youth hostels when I visit Europe, so I can travel pretty cheap.
Oh, and I wouldn't buy that $30k car new anyway; I'd wait until it had a few miles on it, then buy it for $20k used.

Really? I've never gotten complaints from anyone back there. Maybe I just know small people

It's easy to find a car with a lot more power than the SVT these days, but very difficult to find one that handles as satisfyingly. The SE-R Spec V and WRX are the only cars I can think of that are as fun to drive as the SVT in the sub-$30K category.

Okay, here's a fun, new monkey wrench.
I just discovered a DIY garage that rents a garage spot, lift, cherry picker, and all the necessary tools I would need to do this on my own (as in, with a friend who knows more than me) for $4 an hour.
How much should that change this whole equation?

Interesting. If I were to go through with it, what else should I do at the same time (with the block out already and all)?
