Today I was doing a bit of driving and I noticed a really weird smell coming from my car. It was comparable to a rubbing alcohol smell. It came and went twice for about a couple of minutes each time. Any ideas on what this could be and should I be worried?

Sweet smelling? Could be coolant. May want to check if you have a leaking hose somewhere (especially heater core area -below the passenger side dash)

not a sweet smell at all. At least i dont think rubbing alcohol smells sweet.  coolant is at the same normal level. The smell just popped up a few days ago and comes and goes

He said it smells like rubbing alcohol... last I checked it definately doesn't smell like ass.

i would check for leaky stuff in the engine area

Good suggestion. Some windshield wipers do have some sort of alcohol-based solution (very small amount) to prevent freezing in the winter. It might have gone to the cabin air filters and then into the a/c ducts.

I was thinking maybe the cabin air filter...I'll give everything a check this weekend when I go home. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Coincidentally, it started happening on a group trip from taco bell
