anyone know where the name James Bond came from? and who he is modeled after?

Quote:

The name James Bond comes from the author of a book on birds of the West Indies.

Quote:

The look of James Bond is famed for being "suave and sophisticated." In Casino Royale the character Vesper Lynd says of Bond, "He reminds me rather of Hoagy Carmichael, but there is something cold and ruthless." Carmichael would later be the basis as James Bond for artist Mike Grell and his series of James Bond comic books, while the Hoagy Carmichael description would be repeated in later Bond stories written by John Gardner.

"correctomundo" on the name. It was a book that was supposedly just sitting on his table and he was looking for a "normal" name to use.

For the inspiration of the character I was actually referring to Bond himself, not his look. what were Bond's adventures (loosely) based on??
