Rag on them all you want but they run a loving caring home were they learn values and enojy each other.
I can think of 5 friends off the top of my head who suffered through all kinds of abuse and had nightmarish childhoods, yet their families appeared perfect on the surface--nice suburban homes, the parents had good reputations and were prominent in the community (guidance counselors, teachers, college professors, psychologists), the kids did well in school, etc. The common thread in all these families was that the parents were overworked/stressed, and perfectionists who were obsessed with their public image. When they thought their kids were "tarnishing" their reputations (or just wanted to releive their anger on someone), they because highly abusive.
I'm certainly not saying that's necessarily the case with this family, just that appearances can be very deceiving. You never know what goes on behind closed doors..
