The battery light has been on and off for year and half. I do not have any problem starting the car or any electrical problem. It is a 98 mystique Zetec. Finally took it to the garage for a charging system verification test.
Computer printout says
Battery is BAD
83% charge,
4.7 ohm,
630 CCA,
LOAD VOLTAGE 11.34V

I replaced a new battery. The battery light flicker again after one day. I went back to the garage and have the charging system check again. Mechanic checked all wire connections; he said everything is tight with no loose wire. I do not think it is loose wire because the light comes on even the car is idle. With the new battery, the light does not come on as often and goes out faster.
This time computer print out
Battery is good
100% charge,
5.7 ohm,
600 CCA
LOAD VOLTAGE 13.5
Alternator is GOOD
Diodes is good
Initial current 100A
Load current 110A

Any help will be appreciated.

T

Get a voltmeter and test the alternator charge yourself. Engine running, voltage should be 14 to 14.5 volts.

In addition, is the serpentine belt in good condition?

I did the test many times with digital voltmeter, 13.9 -14.7 even with the battery light on.

I wonder if it may be time for the alternator wiring fix. Check out GoldenTour's posts.

Hahaha!!! this is funny. now since i bought my Lightning, i've been feeling like such a troll. Thanks Tony for the shoutout.
Has anyone else tried the wiring fix?

but anyways, the wiring fix is for the dimming/flickering lights on the duratec, but hey you never know. You might have a wiring issue under the Fuse box in the engine compartment.

Check the wiring under the battery, your grounds might be corroded under the battery tray. also there is a battery lead that runs to the fuse box in the engine compartment.

Are your battery cables clean?
