I think if the oil and filter is changed every 3k/3mths, it should be fine. The concern is some have an extended schedule of 5k/6mths (or more). I used to have whatever iffy ube put in my Contour (and I am sure that filter quality is worse than Fram). Of course, now that I am doing it myself (and saving maybe $20 in the process), I "splurged" on the good stuff. 
. But I still use regular dino oil (3k/3mths).
