Wondering if the plastic impeller applies to 4-cyl models as well? I've had to replace my water pump 3 times now. May need to do it again as I'm losing coolant. Thanks.
I don't think so. Plus losing coolant is probably something else, like a leaking head gasket. Is there bubbles in the coolant ank while the engine is running. That's a sign of a blown head gasket.

A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine!
Neither. There is some kind of seam on the side where they seem to spring a leak. Make sense? My mechanic says it's just crappy workmanship. I'm going to have to try the Dura Pro I guess. I've been getting them at Car Quest but this is strike 3. I just can't help thinking something else is causing this though. I mean 3 in a row?! What could make a water pump break like that?
If the durapro looks different in the casting, try it, or visit the Ford dealer for the OEM part. It will hurt your wallet more, but might put a stop to endless pump failure. Make sure the pulley is lined up correctly too.
My stocker had a metal impellar.....the replacement....metal also.

Well called and ordered the DuraPro. The guy was trying to recommend the Napa brand over the DuraPro. I told him I'd take a look at both of them when I go down there, my concern being the casting at this point.
